Available as a hardtop or a convertible, the 2009 Mini Cooper has nimble road manners and outstanding fuel economy ratings. Of the three available trims, reviewers said the base model was fun, but the Cooper S and John Cooper Works models have more satisfying power. At 28/37 mpg city/highway, the base model gets the best fuel economy ratings. As a new model, the 2009 Mini Cooper was expensive for a small car.
The 2009 Mini Cooper’s interior has a lot of standard features such as air conditioning, power accessories and a six-speaker stereo with an auxiliary port. Options when it was new included a USB port, Bluetooth and navigation. Though the base model is loaded with features, the four-seat Cooper has one of the tightest back seats in the class and little cargo space. Additionally, reviewers felt the design and controls were distracting and confusing.
