2009 Nissan Murano SL

When they had a chance to try out the redesigned 2009 Nissan Murano, test drivers said there was a lot to like about this crossover. Its interior is attractive and packed with features, and test drivers said it’s almost as nice as the cabin of an Infiniti. Standard features include a six-speaker audio system, push-button ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control and a leather-trimmed shift knob. The Murano’s list of available features is extensive and includes rear-seat entertainment, a power liftgate, dual-panel moonroof and navigation.

Many reviewers noted that the Murano is nimbler than competing 2009 midsize SUVs. In fact, when it was new, many test drivers compared the Murano with the 2009 Lexus RX 350 because it was so refined. The Murano is also fun to drive. According to the EPA, both two- and all-wheel drive trims earn 18/23 mpg city/highway, which is a bit above-average for a midsize crossover. A 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine is the only engine available. It’s paired with a continuously variable transmission.

The Murano isn’t perfect, however. Nissan recommends premium fuel, so you’ll spend a little more at the pump. Additionally, the Murano’s sporty, firm ride might be too stiff for shoppers who want a comfortable SUV, and reviewers noted that its thick C-pillars reduced rearview visibility. Overall, though, these are minor problems compared with the large amount of praise that test drivers gave the Murano. Anyone in the market for a five-seat used crossover should be sure to include the 2009 Nissan Murano on their shopping list.
